Spirituality and Health Magazine did an extensive article on teaching and among many other things (it was the March-April 2007 edition if you’d like to read the entire article) listed these 6 attributes…
1. Almost all spiritual seekers progress through stages.
2. Most practitioners study with several teachers during their lives and form a different relationship with each.
3. Not every spiritual teacher is equally accomplished.
4. The appropriate relationship between seeker and teacher depends up on the spiritual level of each.
5. The student’s relationships with his teachers deepen as he proceeds along the spiritual path.
6. Each teacher may play a different role in each seeker’s spiritual life.
